Actors Theatre Selected for Inaugural performARTS program
Kansas City Actors Theatre has been selected out of hundreds of arts organizations across the metropolitan community to be one of six arts organizations featured in a new series called performARTS. This multi-media campaign, presented by Townsend Communications in Kansas City, MO along with KCPT, Kansas City Public Television, is specifically designed to inspire appreciation of Kansas City’s vibrant arts scene.
In a letter from Townsend President and Publisher, H Guyon Townsend and KCPT President and CEO, Kliff Kuehl they state, “Kansas City is the home to some of our nation’s most innovative trends in theater, music, dance and visual arts. Each group featured thrives on an entrepreneurial management style, the exploration of creative frontiers, taking risks and questioning the status quo. Kansas City Actors Theatre is a reason why the arts in the Greater Kansas City area consistently shine so brightly.”
KCAT President John Rensenhouse noted “We are honored to have been selected for this unique and exciting effort to spread the word about Kansas City’s growing cultural vibrancy. I’m very hopeful it will be an invaluable boost for our relatively young organization in terms of visibility and recognition.”
Underwritten by Speas Memorial Trusts and the Richard J. Stern Foundation for the Arts, the series includes a special three-page editorial highlighting each organization in one of KC Studio’s six bimonthly editions. It will also include documentaries about each of the selected organizations to be aired on KCPT multiple times over the next 12 months. The performARTS Series Launches in KC Studio November/December Issue and on KCPT’s The Local Show November 10, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. Kansas City Actors Theatre will be featured in the July/August issue of KC Studio and the documentary segment will air during the same period.
The six arts organizations that were selected for performARTS include Charlotte Street Foundation, Coterie Theatre, Kansas City Actors Theatre, Kansas City Chorale, Paul Mesner Puppets and Quality Hill Playhouse.
